Counting Days Thoughts: Rey Part 2

I had another brainwave today.


Rey Theories:
...Is it bad if I really hope that she *did* find a nasty Force something in a wreck...It would go a long way to explain her sudden Force abilities (maybe she got some training and then forgot...).
Especially since the canon novel Bloodline apparently kills the theory that she was abandoned to protect her from the First Order...Kylo was 23 when the Academy was destroyed:

1.Rey was 5 when she was abandoned.

2. Kylo was 23 when he destroyed the jedi

3. Kylo and Rey have a 10 - 13 year age gap (TFA is around 30 years after the Battle of Endor, he was born 1 year after the Battle of Endor).

4. So Rey would have been living on Jakku for 5 - 8 years when the Academy was destroyed. She'd have been either 10, 11, 12, or 13. Weirdly, that was when she got her I am on my own and will survive, dammit mindset in this story...Accidental Fridge Brilliance??? I JUST REALIZED THAT HOLY SHIT

So I'm wondering if her parents were just assholes. Which would be a good component of a Breaking Speech from Kylo or Snoke, a la Luke's experience in ESB.

Starship Tech:
I did a lot of Asspulls in chpater 4, and will continue to do so. Granted, if I dig deep enough, I probably would find something about the super low-level internals....Of course it'd be of dubious canonicity, because I seriously doubt that the writers went that far, but still...I also have an engineering background, so I like messing around with pseudo-technobabble, muahahaha! ...I'll try and keep it consistent, especially because Rey's going to be teaching him the tricks of the trade. I found some cosplay pics on pinterest that are driving some of that, too...*pets a redheaded dude in the semi-modern steampunk outfit*

Jakku:
I'm resisting reading the canon 'survival guide' because I don't want too much 'voice' impact, if that makes any sense at all, but Wookiepedia kinda implies she's had brushes with the nasty parts of Jakku society in the past. *fistbump of badassery with Rey*
